After a 45 year career, the "kid" I hired as a Board Op/Producer at CKNW/CFMI in 1979 has called it a day!
In these days when we seem to hear of downsizing and cutbacks almost daily, it's nice to see someone hang up the mic and headphones on their terms when they want to start a new life.
This morning, Russ did his final newscasts on Pattison Media's Beach FM and The Lizard in Kelowna.
In addition to his three stops at CKNW/CFMI , Russ spent time on-air in Creston, Duncan, Williams Lake, Terrace and CISL in Vancouver. Prior to his 14 years as Business Editor at News 1130 (1996-2010) he worked at
Standard Broadcast News in the Rogers building. Between leaving News 1130 and relocating to the Okanagan he was an associate producer at Global National for two years.
Enjoy your retirement Russ! You've earned it.
