In 1960, several sources say that WABC-AM New York City introduced its first Music Chart for on-air use. You can see a retyped version of it here but it begs the question if this is the first chart, how come some songs have a Last Week Position listed? WABC was on 770 KHz, so there are 77 songs listed, though the last five weren't technically in order of popularity, but merely promising new releases. WABC grew to become one of the great Top 40 stations of the 1960s. Not a small feat in the largest city in North America.

In 1982, Bob Redmond signed on CKRY-FM Calgary on 105.1 MHz with 100,000 watts as "Country 105". Shaw (to become Corus) purchased the station on January 1, 1997. An FM repeater in Banff was approved by the CRTC on April 20, 2000. Founder Robert E. Redmond passed away on May 7, 2005.
