In 1969, CHNL Kamloops was licensed on 610 KHz with 1000 watts, despite the relatively close proximity to CJAT Trail on the same frequency. Owner John Skelly also received a license on that day for CJNL Merritt, to be run as a semi-satellite on 1230 KHz with 1000 watts day and 250 watts night.

Also in 1969, CKYR Jasper was licensed as a satellite of CJYR Edson. CKYR was on 1450 KHz with 100 watts.

Again, in 1969, CHQM was approved to purchase CKPG AM & TV Prince George. They signed on CIOI-FM Prince George on 101.3 MHz on March 1, 1981. On October 11, 1990, CHQM owner Jack Stark was approved by the CRTC to sell all three Prince George stations, for estate planning purposes, to Monarch Broadcasting.

In 2004, the CRTC approved CHUM's purchase of Craig Media.
