For 36 years, British Columbians have been generously donating to food banks at CBC/Radio-Canada's annual Open House and Food Bank Day, raising more than $18 million for food banks in B.C.
The event is a yearly tradition for many, and we are happy to bring you a new edition of CBC's Food Bank Day that you can watch and stream from around the province!
On December 1, join us for special broadcasts that you can stream and watch live on CBC Gem and cbc.ca/bc, as well as listen to on CBC Radio One and CBC Listen.
We are also inviting the public to be part of a small, intimate live studio audience at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre for the day's special programs! Seats are limited, register here.
Last year, you blew us away by raising a record-breaking $2,967,719.26 for local food banks and food banks need our support more than ever this year. The demand for food banks in B.C. and across Canada is skyrocketing, with almost 200,000 visits to B.C. food banks happening in the past year. Between inflation and the continuing cost-of-living crisis, more people are accessing services from food banks every year.
