Hmm. Something tells me I should have taken a break and done Today in Irish Broadcasting History. Nonetheless:
In 2003, CBCX-FM Calgary signed on to 89.7 MHz with 10,000 watts with Radio-canada's La Chaine culturelle. Only 20 minutes of local programming per week was required. Despite being approved for 100,000 watts in 2002, Industry Canada determined that potential interference issues must limit the station to 10KW. In September 2004, Radio-canada renamed the network Espace musique. To many English-speaking Alberta jazz fans, the Edmonton and Calgary stations are their best source for the music they love.

In 2005, the CRTC approved the request of Suncor Energy employees to change the program source of CJOK Fort McMurray's Tar Island rebroadcast transmitter to CKYX-FM Fort McMurray. The rebroadcaster operated on 95.7 MHz with 44.3 watts.
