In 1975, the CBC Vancouver Broadcasting Centre opened at 700 Hamilton Street. Prior to that, CBC operations had been spread across multiple buildings in downtown Vancouver, including the Hotel Vancouver and a former car dealership on West Georgia Street.

In 2006, the CRTC approved the sale of CKKQ-FM and CJZN-FM Victoria from OK Radio Group to Jim Pattison for $15.75 million. CJZN-FM began on January 18, 1950, as Victoria's second radio station. David M. Armstrong was the founder, and CJZN was then CKDA-AM, on 1340 KHz with 250 watts.
