In 2010, CKNO-FM Edmonton launched by Rawlco on 102.3 MHz as NOW-FM, after 102.3 seconds of silence. At the same time, the station changed call letters from CIAB-FM, their call letters during their test period. Open carriers were heard as early as November 6, 2009, with a four song loop beginning on November 19th. Which made for one very long test period, though the Edmonton record is held by CKAV-FM, which tested for well over a year.
NOW-FM ratings were quick to follow the launch. And were very impressive.
