Bill Drake is officially hired by KFRC San Francisco. But he has already hired Bobby Mitchell from KYA. Drake estimates a start date between April 1 to May 1 with his new format on KFRC. This is the fourth station that Drake is consulting.

WIFI-FM Philadelphia begins a Hot 100 Hits program from 9-11:30 p.m. nightly, one of the first regular Rock programs on non-simulcast FM in the U.S.
But simulcast FM is a different story, especially in Cleveland where you can hear a head-to-head Top 40 battle of mammoth proportions. Perenniel favourite WHK is duking it out with 1-A Clear Channel WKYC, which I would often listen to in Vancouver at the time, as they came in most evenings. Both stations are running simulcast FMs, so you can hear WHK on 1420 KHz and 100.7 MHz, and WKYC on 1100 KHz and 105.7 MHz.
