The wall calendar commemorating CHED’s 25th anniversary means this was from 1979; probably aired in 1980, Harriet’s first season.
The technology was pretty sophisticated for that era; computerized (more or less) but pre-hard drive storage. Everything can be called up remotely from the control room but still on carts none the less. IGM automated - what could possibly go wrong!
Okay, so Bruce wasn’t much of an actor, at least from the beginning of the episode, but he grows more comfortable in the role as he gets into explaining being a disc jockey to little Susan.
Now she had an actual acting career as Sharon Alexander appearing in early 90’s television in all those usual Vancouver made series; X Files, Outer Limits, Cold Squad, DaVinci’s Inquest, and ever since to the present, very busy in animation voice over: ReBoot, My Little Pony.
Did a bit of Toronto market radio as well.
She was still Sharon Holownia as a little girl back in Harriet’s world.
Undoubtedly the daughter of long time CFRN TV personality Alex Holownia. I guess that’s where the Alexander came from for her working name.
"You don't know man! I was in radio man! I've seen things you wouldn't believe!"
