I had almost forgot about this funky little song. Released at a time when there wasn't much disco cancon. This is a good cover of the original Dazz version which came out in 1976. Interesting is the lengthy 1:10 instrumental/sax bridge in the middle of a 3:23 minute song.
There was a bit of a flurry of parallel cancon covers in the mid 70's. THP Orchestra was able to release the instrumental theme from SWAT the same time as Rhythm Heritage. Never did understand why some stations muddied the waters and played both versions, which were almost identical. It was more understandable with Take Me in Your Arms with the Charity Brown's more pop version of the song which was totally different than the Doobie Bros.
Martin Stevens version of Love is in the Air was released almost two months prior to the John Paul Young version which was top 10 everywhere but Canada, where Steven's version was more popular. Again quite a few stations played both versions even though the Steven's track was already well established and charting strong by the time Young's take on the song came out.
