John Clark (CHNL, CKXL, CJAY) passes at 67

Postby Rocky » Wed Apr 03, 2019 4:19 pm

I just heard that long time CKXL and CJAY jock John Clark passed away on March 27th. John got his start in the biz at CHNL Kamloops in 1970 and then moved onto CKXL Calgary in 1974. In the 1980s he moved over to CJAY FM. I recall him doing some part time work at QR-77 in the 1990s. After radio, he worked in a few music shops around Calgary in addition to being a musician. John had suffered from cancer the past several months.

John's Funeral service was held earlier today. RIP John.

Sad news.

First time I heard John was during his time at 1140 CKXL as host of the all request "Electric Lunch."

Last time I heard John, on the air, was when he was reading newscasts on 660 News.

I think John went to Penticton and Magic FM after his time at C-JAY 92 FM in Calgary.

Stay tuned for an aircheck, from the RadioWest.ca archives, of John at C-JAY this weekend.

Yeah, John was in Penticton as PD of CKOR in about 95 or 96. He went to CJCD Yellowknife in 97 as PD.
