Complications of Pneumonia plus many other health problems.
She was only 65 but after the love of her life died, she was devastated and when she was fired from CHUM, that was pretty much it for her.
Moved into a Nursing Home outside of Toronto where she was making a recovery and getting her life back in order when the Pneumonia developed.
She had a long and varied career at the CHUMs, starting as an assistant in the music department back in the late 70s.
She was fired in the early 2000s along with a lot of other people when the company tried the ill-fated Team fiasco.
She'd done pretty much every job in the station, traffic, morning show co host, helping produce the In Toronto program on CHUM FM.
Always fun, cheerful and positive.
She and Tom had been an item for quite some time but everyone who knew them kept this inside 1331.
They were deeply in love, Tom was on a downslide with many problems of his own but he made a comeback when they finally got together and totally cleaned up his act.
They had such a short but joyous time together before Tom suddenly died.
It was another case of a faithful long term employee cast to the curb by uncaring management.
Her job was her pride and joy.
RIP, Nanci and know that you were loved by all of your co-workers.
There's a long thread of tributes to her on the CHUM Fun at 1331 page on Facebook.
