Props to Country 105.
I still maintain that Wild is a stupid name. It just strikes me too much like some out of towner thinking Calgary is still Cowtown and that this is the old wild west.
Pattison is sparing no expense when it comes to billboards, bus and C-Train ads for Wild 95.3. Recent ones however have downplayed the word "wild" instead highlighting "country" and "95.3".
It's the execution of the format and branding that's failing. The revolving door of talent in key time slots, since Wild's launch, hasn't helped either.
"Country Fresh 95.3 JRfm" patterned after Vancouver's 93.7 would have saved them some cash, time and couldn't have performed any more poorly than Wild has so far.
Kiss 95.9 ads have been all over the Rogers City and Sportsnet tv properties and yet it continues its descent. Nowhere near the numbers of its Lite 96 heyday. It's no longer Calgary's heritage AC station (our version of QMfm).
It looks like Rawlco found the format hole in Calgary with Soft Rock 97.7 proving what Harvard argued when it competed for the 95.3 licence.
Is this the best book ever for Amp and the first time it has beaten Virgin?
Turn off the power at 1060. It ain't funny what's happened to "The Voice of the Prairies."
