Does anyone know the title and artist of the third song in, at the 1:29-1:30 timecheck? "Fading away"? Always thought those early Johnny Mann jingles were a tad sloppy. They sounded better in the later versions where CKLG was sung whith more emphasis on the call letters, a la CKLW.
The quote from Taraborrelli, J. Randy (2004), The Magic and the Madness, is: "Steeltown Records owner and producer Gordon Keith from Gary, Indiana, discovered and first signed the Jackson Five, and they began making their first recordings in 1967." This was after the group had already had gigs all across the U.S. on the so-called "chitlin' circuit".

The Michael Jackson bio I read said it was Taylor who brought them to Motown's attention, and the publicity department came up with the Diana Ross story and putting "Diana Ross Presents" on their first album
Back to TDM...I recall a Johnny Mann jingle that sung his name to the same melody as "Robert W. Morgan". I would guess this is from the early '70s, although on their 10th anniversary CFOX show, Larry and Willy indicated that terry (their predecessor in AM drive) used it on The Fox.
