Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1984 ... one of many hits for Bruce Cockburn ... "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

There must have been some truly appalling evidence of the "disappearing" of dissidents and other human rights abuses when Bruce visited Central American banana republics about a year before Rocket Launcher bowed. Not a stretch to say it would take a lot to motivate Bruce to pen and sing such a call-to-arms classic.

From his debut solo album to 1984's Stealing Fire, Christian spirituality has long infused Cockburn's work. But he put aside turn-the-other-cheek sentiments for this one. And I'm forever glad he did.
