Finding info on AM Directional Patterns

Finding info on AM Directional Patterns

Postby jon » Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:36 pm

I have long used fccinfo.com as my "go to" source for directional patterns of AM stations in the U.S. and Canada. I have even exchanged comments, once or twice, with the fellow who keeps the web site updated every night from the latest FCC-supplied data.

I strongly suspect that something has gone awry with the Canadian information that the FCC is receiving. In the most extreme case that I have seen, CKJH-750 is listed as CJVR -- call letters that the station has not had since February 28, 2002.

As has been discussed a fair number of times, from what many of us have heard at night on our radios, stations like CHED, CJOB and many others have clearly changed their night-time directional patterns in recent years, but fccinfo.com still shows the old patterns.

Does anyone know of an official Canadian federal government source for accurate information on Canadian AM directional patterns?
