In 2006, CKVU-TV Vancouver co-founder Daryl Duke died in West Vancouver at the age of 77. It took a lengthy legal battle for CanWest to finally wrestle control of the station from Daryl and partners in 1988. It all hinged on a $8 million loan in 1982 that included an option for CanWest to buy all of Daryl and partners' shares.
