In 1979, CIMG-FM Swift Current signed on 94.1 MHz with 100,000 watts. By 1995, they had racked up three short-term license renewals for failing to properly maintain a collection of logger tapes. This time, they promised to contract with competitor CKSW-AM to settle the logger tapes problem once and for all. Instead, CKSW purchased the station almost immediately, receiving CRTC approval on November 8th. The next year, Golden West Broadcasting bought both stations, quickly switching CIMG to The Eagle with a mix of pop and rock from the past four decades.



In 2002, thousands of U.S. Internet radio stations were scheduled to begin paying royalty fees on songs they play. And the songs they played for several years previous. Instead, the vast majority went off the "air".
