In 1960, Art Wallman was hired by Wilf Gilby at CKSW Swift Current (Saskatchewan), where he worked until his retirement on August 30, 1996. He was born on July 12, 1928, with spastic paralysis, but his family was too poor to pay for any medical treatment until he was 9. He then began the first of 14 operations, which allowed him to walk with the aid of crutches. He had always dreamed of working in Radio, but his auditions during the 1950s never led to a job. In 1976, veteran CTV News anchor Harvey Kirck was first joined by Lloyd Robertson on-air for the late evening CTV News. They co-anchored for 11 years, until CTV dropped Kirck in 1987. It may sound like it, but it wasn't World's Longest Layoff notice, because Harvey and Lloyd worked very well together on-air during all those years. Harvey died of congestive heart failure on February 18, 2002, at the age of 73.
In 1981, CIGV-FM Penticton signed on to 100.7 MHz with 10,600 watts. The GV in the call letters stood for the owners' company, Great Valleys Radio Ltd.
In 1999, Telemedia Radio Inc. was approved by the CRTC to purchase Okanagan Skeena Group Limited. Exactly 11 months earlier, Okanagan Skeena had purchased Nornet Broadcasting Ltd.
In 2001, Pamela Martin joined Bill Good (Jr.) as co-anchor on CTV News at Six on CIVT-TV Vancouver. Both had previously been on CHAN-TV Vancouver.
