In 1965, the CBC bought CFMW-FM, and turned it into CBW-FM Winnipeg. The station had signed on December 10, 1962, with 354,000 watts on 98.3 MHz. As CBW-FM, the station was the CBC's first to broadcast in stereo.

In 1990, the CRTC approved the sale of CKPG AM & TV Prince George from CHQM to Monarch Broadcasting. CHQM had originally purchased the stations on November 19, 1969, after recovering from the financial and ratings disaster that was CJQM in Winnipeg.

In 2005, NewCap's CIXF-FM Brooks (Alberta) launched as "The Fox", after a "free sample weekend". The station broadcast on 101.1 MHz with 2200 watts from a 45 metre antenna height.
