In 1979,
CIOK-1 Grand Centre (Alberta) was licensed by the CRTC to rebroadcast CIOK St. Paul. CIOK-1 was on 1340 KHz with 250 watts. There were lots of changes over the years, but none greater than on September 3, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. when the station went from an AM Local ("graveyard") frequency (1340) to a 100,000 watt FM station on 95.3 MHz with an antenna height of 155 metres. The call letters were changed to CJXK, but the station called itself K-Rock, as did another NewCap classic rock station, CIRK-FM in Edmonton.
In 2001 at 5:00 p.m.,
CJCQ-FM North Battleford (Saskatchewan) signed on as Q-98. It was licensed to CJNB-AM on 97.9 MHz with 100,000 watts. On October 6, 2004, CJNB was licensed for yet another FM station in North Battleford, as well as a 45,000 watt CJCQ repeater in Meadow Lake on 104.5 MHz.
