In 1965, CJOR Vancouver's fate was made public in a ruling released by the BBG (Board of Broadcast Governors, predecessor of the CRTC). Just over three years after the sudden and unexpected death of founder George Chandler and subsequent hiring of talk show host Pat Burns, the BBG forced the sale of the station to Ralph Cunningham and Jim Pattison. The ruling was based both on listener complaints about Pat Burns' open line programs, and irregularities in shareholder compensation.

In 1999, the CRTC approved the sale of CIYR Hinton, CJYR Edson, CKYR Jasper, CKYR-1 Grande Cache and CFYR-FM Whitecourt from Yellowhead Broadcasting Ltd. to Okanagan Skeena Group Ltd. Less than a month later, Telemedia received approval to buy Okanagan Skeena. On April 19, 2002, Standard Radio received approval to buy most of Telemedia's radio stations, but then immediately sold some of them to Rogers and NewCap. The Yellowhead stations ended up with NewCap.
