In 1974, CHQR-810 Calgary was approved to increase power from 10,000 to 50,000 watts by adding a fifth 305 foot tower. The station had originally signed on by Ted Soskin on November 17, 1964. Western Broadcasting (CKNW) bought the station on April 15, 1970. A new transmitter site with six towers was used in 1985 for the move to 770 KHz, providing much less night-time interference, especially to listeners South of the previous transmitter site.
In 1989, CKVH-AM High Prairie was approved by the CRTC to rebroadcast CFOK Westlock, plus provide 24 hours per week of local programming. CKVH was licensed to 1020 KHz with 1000 watts day and 400 watts at night.

In 2002, CJNW-730 Vancouver signed on with modern rock and no DJs after more than a month off the air to replace an aging transmitter and towers. On May 28th, it had terminated its 16 month All News format. And, on July 11th, announced that it would become MOJO Radio on August 6, patterned after its Toronto sibling, talk radio for males. The call letters were changed to CHMJ on August 6th. What had once been the Top 40 powerhouse CKLG is currently running a Traffic format.
