In 1984, Windsor's CKLW switched from Adult Contemporary to Adult Standards, which they called "Music of Your Life". It certainly wasn't music of their life as everyone still mourned the death of "The Big 8". In fact, there are many who still argue that CKLW was the world's most influential and popular Top 40 station of all time.



In 1989, Dr. Charles Allard's Allarcom was given permission by the CRTC to buy Red Deer's CKRD-TV from Monarch Broadcasting, as well as buying out Monarch's half interest (Allarcom already owned the other half) in ITV's repeater in Red Deer.
