In 1956, CBLT Toronto moved from Channel 9 to 6. More than a decade later, channels in South Ontario were reallocated, and CBLT moved to Channel 5 with less power and a directional signal. But the signal got decidedly better on May 31, 1976, with more power and a much higher tower, atop the CN Tower.

In 1987, Shaw (to become Corus) was approved by the CRTC to purchase CKGY Red Deer. The station switched to FM in 2001 and was purchased by Newcap, along with CIZZ-FM, from Corus in 2005. CKGY originally signed on August 1, 1975, on 1170 KHz with 10,000 watts day and 5000 watts night; it was locally owned by Park Country Broadcasting.

In 2000, the 1500 KHz frequency went silent as CKAY Duncan completed its period of simulcasting its FM replacement, CJSU-FM "Sun-FM". And the call letters were picked up for CKAY-FM Gibsons (B.C.), which signed on May 20, 2006. CKAY-AM originally signed on in October 1964 on 1500 KHz with 1000 watts. Original owners were Dr. John Coleman and a group of Duncan businessmen. On July 24, 1972, CKAY was approved by the CRTC for sale to Ernie Mykyte. Dick Drew purchased the station in 1979. Vista Broadcast Group Inc. purchased the station in January 2005. By the time it switched to FM in 2000, CKAY-AM was 10,000 watts daytime and 1000 watts at night.

In 2002, CFRN Edmonton continued its all sports format as "The Team 1260" despite CHUM's closure of The Team radio network on this day. CFRN had only joined the network in early June after switching from a semi-simulcast (ads, jingles and morning show were local) Oldies format originating with CISL Vancouver.

CFGO Ottawa likewise continued as Team 1200 with an all-sports format, as did CKGM Montreal and CKST Vancouver. CFAC Calgary became The Fan 960. Other stations of The Team network switched formats. CFST Winnipeg went to Oldies, bringing back the CFRW call letters the next January. CHUM itself returned to the Oldies format that had preceded Team 1050. CKLC Kingston also returned to playing music.
