In 1973, Acadian Cable TV Ltd. is convicted of operating a U.S. head-end antenna without a license from the CRTC. The key fact in the case is that the head-end is directly connected by cable to the distribution system.

In 2000, CHVN-FM Winnipeg finally gets a frequency, 95.1 MHz, after receiving a license from the CRTC in January, but being turned down for the use of 107.1 MHz. The station first signed on September 14th of the same year with 100,000 watts. In 2004, Golden West Broadcasting purchases controlling interest in the station.
