
In 1977, Allan Slaight triggered a buy-sell agreement that ended up with CanWest owning 50% of the Global Television Network, and Slaight selling all of his interests.
In 1991, CITV-TV Edmonton and CKRD-TV Red Deer were sold by Dr. Charles Allard to CKNW owner WIC. At the same time, Dr. Allard acquired 22.4% of the non-voting Class B shares of WIC. He died later the same year.
In 2001, CJIB Vernon was approved for an AM to FM flip, to 107.5 MHz with 46,000 watts. The station spent its entire AM existence on 940 KHz, beginning in 1947 with 1000 watts, and running 10,000 watts full-time since 1972.
In 2007, CKCE-FM Calgary signed on at 1:01 p.m. on 101.5 MHz with 48,000 watts. It had taken a while to find an acceptable frequency, with owner CHUM negotiating with CKUA to move their Red Deer FM transmitter from 101.3 MHz to 107.7 MHz.
