In 1962, CKWX's last Fabulous Forty was issued. Unlike previous charts, this one only listed its end date: March 10th. By this time, Red Robinson's nightly Platter Party was the only Top 40 heard on CKWX. And Red had given his notice that he was leaving for CFUN, where Dave McCormick was off to Fresno to join Ron Jacobs at K-MAKe, to become part of the team that would later create Bill Drake's Boss Radio.
In 1989, 10,000 watt CKSA Lloydminster was granted a power increase to 50,000 watts during the daytime. On August 29, 2003, the station switched to FM, with 100,000 watts on 95.9 MHz. A 25,000 watt repeater in Bonnyville was also approved, but, with Newcap's purchase of the station in 2004, the planned repeater was scrapped, and a new FM station in Bonnyville was approved on March 10, 2006.
In 1997, Radiofan's Puget Sound Radio Guide debuted on GeoCities. Its discussion forum, initially on MSN, was a few years off. But the original material, regularly updated, is still available from the RadioWest.ca home page today: a list of radio stations in Vancouver/Victoria/Seattle, since expanded to include all of B.C. and major cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan; regularly heard night-time DX catches on AM; QSL cards; and some radio station (window/bumper) stickers. It would be April 15, 2003, before the pugetsoundradio.com domain name was registered.
