In 1986, CBUA-FM Atlin, British Columbia, was approved by the CRTC, after the community lost its radio service with the collapse of the Atlin Broadcasting Society. CBUA was a repeater of CFWH Whitehorse. It signed on February 20, 1987.
Also in 1986, CBEX-TV Aklavik (NWT) was launched as a repeater of CHAK-TV Inuvik. CHAK-TV had previously been licensed with 3000 watts to serve both Inuvik and Aklavik, and provide an over-the-air feed for CHAK-TV-1 Fort McPherson. Since both repeaters now used a satellite link, CHAK-TV reduced power to 122 watts, enough to cover Inuvik itself.
In 2003, CKST's sale by Grand Slam to CHUM was approved by the CRTC. The Vancouver All-Sports station joined CHUM's Team network on May 7, 2001.
