Also in 1974, CiTR was approved for operation on 650 KHz via AM carrier current on the UBC campus. CYVR had been shut down six months earlier for illegal carrier current operation, after submitting an application to the CRTC, but continuing to broadcast after the CRTC began regulating carrier current stations. The station had been operating on carrier current since 1964.

In 1982, Doug O'Brien was given permission by the CRTC to purchase Manitoba's CFAR-590 Flin Flon, CJAR-1240 The Pas and CHTM-610 Thompson. Ownership was transferred from Gordon Rawlinson on September 1st. CFAR originally signed on November 14, 1937, with 100 watts on 1370 KHz, switching to 1400 KHz in 1941 and 590 KHz in 1946. CHTM began in 1964, and CJAR in 1974.
In 2000, CFRY Portage La Prairie was approved for sale to Golden West Broadcasting. The station signed on October 18, 1956 on 1570 KHz with 250 watts, moving to 920 KHz in 1966 with 1000 watts, increasing to 10,000 watts in 1971.
