In 1960,
CHAN-TV Vancouver was issued a license by the BBG. The station was launched on October 31st of the same year from temporary studios at Richards and Davie Streets in Downtown Vancouver, with a transmitter on Burnaby Mountain. Initially, signal quality in Vancouver was less than KVOS-TV Bellingham, let alone CBUT-TV. CHAN ran as an independent until joining the new CTV network 11 months later.
In 2004,
CHTT-FM Victoria became JACK FM. The station had switched from AM to FM in 2000, switching call letters from
CJVI.
