In 1960, CHAN-TV Vancouver was issued a license by the BBG. The station was launched on October 31st of the same year from temporary studios at Richards and Davie Streets in Downtown Vancouver, with a transmitter on Burnaby Mountain. Initially, signal quality in Vancouver was less than KVOS-TV Bellingham, let alone CBUT-TV. CHAN ran as an independent until joining the new CTV network 11 months later.

In 2004, CHTT-FM Victoria became JACK FM. The station had switched from AM to FM in 2000, switching call letters from CJVI.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
