In 1957, my favourite call letters, CJON-TV-6 St. John's (Newfoundland) signed on the first TV rebroadcaster in Canada, CJOX-TV-10 in Argentia. CJON-TV originally signed on in September 1955 and CJON-930 in 1951.

In 1981, Leo and Me debuted nationally on CBC-TV, having been produced in Vancouver two years earlier. It marked the first major professional experience for Michael J. Fox, and co-starred Brent Carver. 16 year old Michael was chosen for the role of 12 year old Jamie because of his height and maturity, making him much easier to manage than the younger actors he had to compete with during the audition.

In 1998, CJAD Montreal returned to 800 KHz after losing all four of its towers in January thanks to a severe Ice Storm. It had first moved to 1410 using CFMB's old La Prairie transmitter site -- CFMB had moved to 1280 the previous year. But the directional pattern made the signal inadequate in large parts of CJAD's market. Arrangements were then made by CJAD owner Standard Radio to take over CHUM-owned CKGM-990's transmitter. After the towers were restored on this day, simulcasting on 800 and 990 continued until June 12 at noon, when CKGM returned with a new format: Oldies.
