In 1934, General Motors estimated that the GM Hockey Broadcast on this day had an audience of 2.5 to 3 million Canadians. It was first broadcast November 1931 and eventually, with a new sponsor, Imperial Esso, became Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC).

In 1937, Red Robinson was born in Comox, on Vancouver Island. He was only 16 when Al Jordan had him playing very early Rock and Roll on CJOR Vancouver, beginning on November 12, 1953.

In 1964, CKWW-AM Windsor had its official signon, after initial broadcasts the day before. Windsor's second private station was only 500 watts on 580 KHz. CKWW-FM signed on in 1967. CHUM purchased both stations in 1985, and, on this day in 1992 (see below), reached an agreement to purchase CKLW.

In 1970, CJOR Vancouver (Jim Pattison) purchased CFRW AM & FM Winnipeg from the station's bankruptcy receiver. CHQM Vancouver had originally signed the stations on November 1, 1963, as CJQM; some sources list the FM as CKQM. CJOR got a power increase to 10,000 watts for CFRW-AM in 1972, and sold both stations to CHUM on July 31, 1974.

In 1992, CHUM reached an agreement to acquire CKLW AM & FM, despite already owning Windsor's only other non-CBC stations: CKWW-AM and CIMX-FM. CHUM took ownerhip on February 15, 1993, and swapped formats between CKWW-AM and CKLW-AM two weeks later, on March 1st.

In 1997, CHRI-FM Ottawa signed on at 1:00 p.m. Overnight programming was pre-recorded on and played back on the Hi-Fi tracks of a single VHS tape!

In 1999, CKEM-TV's Red Deer repeater had to reduce power from 368,000 to 3480 watts, to win a move from Channel 20 to 4. The CRTC approved the change on this day.

In 2004, Astral and Corus announced an agreement to exchange several radio stations, most notably CKAC-AM Montreal, which Corus acquired from Astral.

In 2007, CFRI-FM Grande Prairie signed on as Free-FM. Owner Vista had been approved the previous November 15th with 100,000 watts on 104.7 MHz. CFRI transmitted from the CKUA-FM tower, and combined classic, recent and country Rock. To get on the air that quickly, temporary studios in a travel trailer were initially used.
