Peter Weissbach returns to the air

Postby radiofan » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:52 pm

You might remember him as the PD who killed CJCA, you may remember him from his weekend show on the W-I-C Radio Network (before Corus took over) ..

Peter Weissbach is returning to the Seattle airwaves at 570 KVI in early February.

You might remember him as "Peter Weston" before he was Peter Weissbach. I'll bet not many remember that. My Uncle used to tell stories about him and laugh and laugh and laugh. Nutbar, but basically a nice nutbar.

Adorable Peter used to own a very large industrial janitorial service in Vancouver for many years, and may still own it.

I'd almost forgotten about him. I never met the guy, but I do recall seeing him do his weekend show from the CKNW truck down at the PNE grounds. During a newsbreak him and his producer bolted for the door and were immediately chain smoking some stinky American butts. The two of them were wearing cheap shades and really ratty looking suits. I damn near pissed myself when somebody passing by commented "Look at this Martha, NW has hired The Blues Brothers".

I met him a few years ago. Kind of a Neil McRae type. Nice guy on the inside, but highly opinionated on the air. But I guess you have to be to get the phone board going. Anyone know if you can get KVI in Vancouver?

Now that 600 is off the air, KVI comes in pretty clear. You might get some slop from KARI 550 that you need to null.

When Weissbach was at NW, I seem to recall him doing a couple of shows that were simulcast on KVI, and he was taking calls from both audiences.

Kat mentioned his producer, I forget his name [Kevin?] but I think he had something to do with Alberta Report magazine. He once mentioned his sister worked with Rick Honey at Star FM.

Radiofan, I think the producer's name was Kevin Grey or Gray. If that's the guy who worked with Peter in the old CJOR days. He left about the same time as Peter did. And if I recall his sister had a great voice, and could very well have worked with Honey at Star.

Radiofan if you're still there, his last name was Grace or Grayce, and his sister's name is Keri Grayce. She might be listed in the b.c. broadcasters list.

Thanks for the info yee-haw.

Somewhere I have a copy of Alberta Report magazine from the spring of 1992 that had Weissabch on the cover and a full story on him and what he was doing with CJCA at the time.

As for the burger .. dry bun ... onions, tomatoe and bacon only. Thanks!
