Clark Weber WLS/WCFL Book

Postby jon » Thu Jul 24, 2008 4:50 pm

Clark Weber has just published a book with CD. He was a DJ then PD at WLS, before moving on to WCFL. And then doing Talk Radio as a host elsewhere in Chicago.

The book announcement is here:
http://www.chicagosbooks.com/weber.aspx

A discounted price is available here:

I'd advise waiting a few weeks to see if it becomes more widely available. And at a better price for those without access to a U.S. address.

If I see any improvements in either availability or price, I'll update this thread.

I'm still not aware of any Canadian sources for this book. But I did find that Barnes and Nobe now drop mails into Canada, eliminating any Customs issues. I paid $23.60 U.S. plus $6.48 shipping, which included Border Brokerage. Not sure how they get away with it, but BN only charges GST on the book, not the shipping fee.

It is a great read. Though not as "big" as you might expect. There are a lot of pictures and oversized print, so the amount of text is less than normal for a book of its size.

So far, I'm two thirds of the way through the book, still in Clark's WLS days. He does dispel some Chicago Radio urban myths, most notably about Dick Biondi's firing from WLS. Nothing to do with anything he said "on air", but the end result of a serious dispute he had over Spot Load during his show. The Station Manager just tired of arguing and fired him.
