All News FM's in New York & Chicago return to music

I hope this is the beginning of a trend:

All News, Talk, and Sports formats belong on the AM band. I don't care what the brain-dead consultants say.

All very well, but no mention of any AM stations in their company picking up the slack.
Many folks became unemployed today.

Russ.....I just looked up Merlin Media on the REC NET site and they don't have any AM stations. Besides the 2 mentioned in the story they also have Classic Rocker WLUP (The Loop) in Chicago and News-Talk WWIQ (IQ 106.9) in Philadelphia. Not a very big company compared to some of the other U.S. media giants.

Thanks for the bg Dan.
Ya really have to wonder what these 'minnows' were thinking, trying to do news on FM in huge markets with long, well-established, well-financed, news stations.
I'm sorry for the people that got taken-in by these people 'playing radio'.

Merlin Broadcasting is run by Randy Michaels . If you're not familiar with him, just Gogle his name and see what wonderful stuff he did at Tribune and Clear Channel when he was there.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
