CKNW "The 1 You Turn To"

Postby radiofan » Sat Feb 02, 2008 9:48 am

From 1978 a cut from CKNW's custom "1 You Turn To" package which I believe was recorded at Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver.

These jingles were also used in a major TV campaign by CKNW.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

As I recall, there was also a window sticker campaign as well.... just a big white numeral 1 with the station calls at the bottom? I had one on my old guitar case until I threw it out last year. (the guitar case with broken guitar in it.)

Have you got the old sports intro, too, AD? We used to use it in Port Alberni when I was up there and it sounded so odd not hearing the 'NW call-letters on it.

Memo to TD: I read your attempt to sing the 'NW jingle. Take singing lessons. Just because you're Pavarotti's size doesn't mean you sing like him.

Yes. Your singing is closer to Paul Lynde than Paul Simon.

Anyway, if Mr. Dent could send the '60s intro to R.F. to be posted here, I'm sure everyone would be grateful. He'll have to explain to me who Red Alex is, though.
