CKNW now at 9.0. The fore-deck now completely submerged, one of the smoke-stacks just fell off and Leonardo and Kate are running for the stern.

Pratt at 7p is going to help them. A rising tide lifts all boats including the SS Kermit.

Don't get your hopes up.
Look at the other sports station ratings.
The once mighty Dog which dominated the ratings, head and shoulders above any competition, is now just a dog.
How the local management survives is the question of the century.
The ratings demographic breakout will tell an even sadder story.
Take this great radio station and drive it into the dirt.
Reminds me of the former CFRB Toronto program director who took that number one station to number 8 during his tenure.
Now, he's a "consultant."

Wrong. Won't make the slightest positive impact in the long run. Do you actually think he will take listners away from Canuck games?

To add insult to injury in the NW Sales Department, sister station All Traffic AM 730 once again has a higher cume than the once mighty Top Dog.

If QM-FM can pull off an almost 3 share lead in the summer months, any guesses as to what their December numbers will be with Christmas music?

The QM lead is way more than a 3 share. The numbers are in the money demo. NWs are 60+. Ouch.

No. But the Canucks play maybe 50,55 of their 82 games in the 7-9pm weekday timeslot.

He should be able to make some impact in the other 200 or so weekday nights. Certainly beats whatever they had before.

WX on a several book slide now as well. Is it commercial news radio people don't want?

Very right MC. When you look at the sports audience it is abysmal to say the least when the Canucks aren't on.

WHEN there is hockey again most of the Canucks games will overlap Pratts show. How can Canucks fans listen to his show while watching the game on TV? Wont happen.

As for the rest of NW they definitely need a big house cleaning. Running their format is expensive and they will have to make a decision either to scale back with less talk shows or continue with the format but syndicate on weekdays with other Corus hosts and lessen the costs that way. They would also be able to pick and choose from the best hosts and raise their talent bar.

Will be interesting. The only shocker so far is that they havent taken any action up to now when this started happening about a year ago.

By "up to now", I assume that you mean before they hired Brad Phillips.

Surprised no-one's mentioned JRfm's spectacular TWO POINT jump. Congrats to all at 8th and Hemlock! Nice trending too.

Looking at Jack's numbers, Larry and Willy were absent for most of the survey period (between holidays and exile) and the numbers actually went up. Maybe Rogers made the right decison.

How long til Astral/Bell does something with Shore 104.3? The minimal gain the station made is a joke. Give up on the Triple-Eh dream and move to a format that might attract some listeners.

As for Pratt on NW, his presence there isn't going to be the lifeline that saves the Titanic. By the look of CKST's non hockey numbers, how big a sports audience is there in this city, especially on
a station that no longer has any PBP sports?

As Cam mentioned, nice gains for JR-FM. CFMI seems to be back in the game too.

Like Shore, The Fox is in desperate need of a major refit too.
