This man is in charge of a country's finances

Image

This man controls a billion dollar budget or even more

What is this man looking at?

Could it be a spider on the ceiling?

Nope.
The teleprompter set-up guys thought they were doing a Tony Robbins seminar so the screens are 'way over his head.
So are economics.

Typical left wing crap! Have you not noticed how overall, this country's economy is doing a helluvalot better than most of the rest of the 'first world'? Look at the States, the U-K, most the the E-U...they're in far worse shape than Canada.

Now come on "How about us lefties" !!

We were jokin with jim and his jungle bunny eyes

But seriously this bunch of conservative idiots said there was no recession - they said we would not be adveresly affected by the
what goes on south of the border. They said that less than two months ago. The world has changed and it has more to go before this huge dip is over.

It was Harper and the Reform braintrust that always thinks Fraser Institue that now says - wow lets have a deficit for up to five year - lets do what everyone else is doing - throwing cash at people who fly jets.

Come on - where are the experts in this country? I say grade one students show more intelligence that corporate leaders and politicians at the federal level.

I am a politician but we are governed by a law that says there has to be a balanced budget in municipalities - where loans are covered by capital assets. How Vancouver got into their debacle is another tale.

The Vancouver story is more about buying into the big bullshit story that the Olympics are good for everyone.. yea everyone who can afford to spend up to five thousand dollars for a holiday there. Not me. BAH humbug.

Just this morning Standard and Poors confirmed the country's AAA credit rating. 'nuff said about that.
As for Vancouver.... Harper insisted they be called Canada's games....now he's refusing to help out with the funding. I suggest VANOC 'forget' about all the French signs.
You see, I can see both sides of the political spectrum. I just get sick of knee-jerk comments.

C'est la vie, mon ami! Not saying I agree with everything the Tories have done, but would you rather have the rudderless Grits or spend spend spend NDP running things? Its just like corporate Toronto telling western operations how to run things, then when it doesn't work (as is usually the case) its up to the branch operation to fix it.

Grits, Tories, NDP, Green, they're all the same. As the late Pat Burns used to say, "their job is to get re-elected, they'll say anything and do anything they think will get them the votes, so they can get enough years in to collect that fat indexed pension"

Pat Burns!! What are you, a thousand years old? If only there was a politician around here who could respond to that. ;)

Yes, Pat Burns...a thousand year old or not, if we had more broadcasters of the calibre of Burns, Webster, and even old Al Davidson, we'd at least have something to listen to on the radio!

Yee is a thousand which makes me a thousand and one

Doesnt matter if Canadian government has a standard and poors rating

If you were a bit brighter you would know the rating companies are the same people that thought sub prime was okay - they are all part of the same corporate elite that dine at the same table.

Making fun of Libs, Ndpee ers and Greens is almost as much fun as poking fun at the new turn around tories who will show true socialism soon
to stay in the frozen Ottawa area.

Politicians get elected because they think they can make a difference. Very few make a difference or leave a legacy. I can name fed politicians on two hands that made a difference. King, Pearson, Trudeau, Douglas
and Stanley Knowles.... Think of Diefenbaker and Mulroney - abject failures as far as legacy. Dief gave us Arrow and Mulroney GST

I do agree that Dief wasted the larger majority in Canadian history, as far as getting results were concerned.

But his Winter Works Program made a huge difference for the workers in the Construction Industry. In those pre-UI/EI days, winters were pretty bleak, income-wise, with the possible exception of the West Coast.

I was too young to benefit, but I do remember the TV ads.

That makes no sense.... do you mean politicians RUN for office because they think they can make a difference?
If that's the case, all I can say is ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....
(I will say though, with all sincerity, that I do believe municipal politicians get into it for that reason. The others...just a few years at the public trough)

That was one TV jingle with recall staying power. Written by journalist George Gideon Blackburn (while working for the Canadian department of Labor) it was pervasive on Canadian television in the early 60's. Even today, I can almost recall all of the lyrics:

"Why wait for spring do it now"
"When there are men who know how"
"If the job is exterior"
"Then the work is superior"
"So, why wait for spring"
"Why wait for spring"
"Why wait for spring"
"Do it now".
"You don't know man! I was in radio man! I've seen things you wouldn't believe!"
