KGA Spokane granted night-time power reduction

From today's Allaccess.com:

"In another case. the FCC approved MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS' applications to reduce the nighttime signal of Sports KGA-A/SPOKANE from 50,000 watts to 15,000 watts to allow its Americana/AAA KPIG-A/PIEDMONT, CA to increase nighttime power from 230 watts to 2,400 watts, over the objection of RAY O'RUSSA. The move will give KPIG more nighttime coverage over the SAN FRANCISCO area."

how sad that the mighty 1510 will be a night-time shadow of itself compared to its current 50 kW night coverage. Looking at an AM coverage map, it appears that KPIG has a null towards KGA and the night-time power increase and change in radiation pattern will indeed give them significant Bay area coverage. KGA has always put a smokin' signal out here on the left coast and I've heard it just pounding in at night as far north as Whitehorse.

KGA's night time signal is nowhere near as potent as it was before they relocated their transmitter site back in the mid 1980's.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
