Law Practice
Hubert Lacroix is a senior advisor with the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott. He contributes to the strategic direction of our law firm and helps identify ways to enhance its performance on several levels. In addition thereto, he has particular interest in the role of corporate directors of public companies.

Mr. Lacroix is included in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers of Canada.


Professional Activities
Mr. Lacroix also acted as senior advisor to Telemedia Ventures Inc. from 2003 to 2005 after having spent the previous three years as the Executive Chairman of Telemedia Corporation and of the Boards of Directors of the other companies in the Telemedia corporate structure. Before joining Telemedia Corporation in February 2000, he was a senior partner with another major Canadian law firm where he spent more than 20 years specializing in mergers and acquisitions in the public and private markets, take-over bids and public financings.

Mr. Lacroix is an adjunct professor with the Faculty of Law at Université de Montréal (securities, and mergers and acquisitions).

In addition, Mr. Lacroix is the Chairman of the Board of SFK Pulp Fund (and a member of the Audit Committee and of the Strategic Planning Committee) and a trustee of the different entities in this unit trust structure. He is also a director of: (i) Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. (chairman of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee and of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee), (ii) Transcontinental Inc. (a member of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee), and (iii) ITS Investments Limited Partnership. In addition, he is a trustee of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation and a director of their private holding company, a trustee of the Martlet Foundation of McGill University, and a director of the Montréal General Hospital Foundation and of the Fonds de développement du Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf.

Over the years, Mr. Lacroix also sat on the Boards of Cambior Inc., Donohue Inc., Circo Craft Co. Inc., Adventure Electronics Inc., Michelin Canada Inc. and Secor Inc.

Mr. Lacroix was amongst the first directors to complete a new ICD Corporate Governance College program designed to help corporate boards exceed governance standards and create globally competitive, higher performing companies in Canada, and holds the certified designation of ICD.D.


Education
Mr. Lacroix received his Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University in 1976 and holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, which he also obtained from McGill University in 1981.
