Longtime CKXL/CHFM CE Hellmutt Frauscher passes

In addition to his many years at CKXL and CHFM in Calgary, Hellmut was also CE at CKSO in Sudbury in the early 1970s.

March 4, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta
Hellmut Frauscher, of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends at the age of 74 years. Hellmut introduced FM radio to Calgary in 1977. He was a ham radio enthusiast and operator and he loved his weekly meetings with his ham radio friends. The family extends their thanks to all of them for their kind gestures. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Hellmut is survived by his daughter Astrid and his three grandchildren, Ryan, Anika and Kurtis. Hellmut was predeceased by his wife Margareta in 2009 and his son Christian 2011.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Sorry to hear - worked with Helmet at CKXL and was part of the folks who helped carry the 'automation' machine over from it's former location - for what became CHFM. He was a quiet giant of a man...I believe may have taught at SAIT for awhile too. RIP.
