The playlist of late sounds like a reboot of Lite 96 minus the "Oldies on FM Weekend."

Maybe Gavin Tucker packed up the old Lite 96 playbook when he left Rogers Calgary operations? Or are they testing out the results of Harvard's music survey which Harvard submitted as part of their application for 95.3?

So let's see it was 97-7 Calgary FM then it became Mix 97-7 followed by up! 97-7 and now Soft Rock 97-7. Maybe the next time it changes, which seems to be every two years since 97.7 launched in March 2008, they'll finally land on Country as a format.

Does Calgary really need more Phil Collins, Elton John and Rod Stewart?

Lite 96 reboot, eh? So will Soft Rock 97.7 tell us the name and artist of every song they play. :violent1:

Forbes said it best on C-JAY years ago. Not too hard, not too soft . . . not too good.

Am I the only one that finds it Ironic that Rawlco is dumping the format that they invented, while Pattison is keeping the same format after buying it and the station it was first attached to? From Rawlco.

Ah, but the month of September is yet young.

Just commenting that UP977 should be playing soft rock (yacht rock) from the 70s more as Calgary's only official soft rock station. The recent format flip will not help them as it is playing the same repetition of 2000's and todays songs many not even considered soft rock. Also How many Michael buble, elton john, rod stewart, bryan adams songs can we bear to hear in 1 day. Some of the yacht rock songs played in calgary only get played in the overnight hours even on XL103. They need to be played more during the day. Yacht rock is a very popular format that fits perfectly into the soft rock category. Groups like america, ambrosia, atlanta rhythm section, pablo cruise, orleans, christopher cross, little river band, boz scaggs, steely dan, toto, donald fagen, genesis, andrew gold, hall and oates, the hollies, michael mcdonald, ronnie milsap, van morrison (other than brown eyed girl),anne murray, olivia newton john, chris rea, linda ronstadt,al stewart, james taylor, wings are some of the artists that would definately increase UP977's radio ratings many believe.

It seems odd also that more stations did not flip formats on the September long weekend.
