No harm in recycling an application: Pretty easy to do a find and replace for the frequency and market.

They will, however, need to have a pattern that is largely east, west and south of the proposed transmitter site so as not to affect CAB-K's Rock 104 (CKJX-FM 104.5) in Olds.

I forgot about that - http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2008/db2008-194.htm

It was 102.7 though, which is likely too close to Newcap's XL-103 (103.1).

Regardless, it looks like 102.5 is available. http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?s ... W=W&size=9

I expect Newcap to intervene as an opponent to the application. I think they'll view Strathmore as Q-91 (910 AM) territory, not just because of the station's transmitter being nearby (35 miles east of Calgary).

Not unlike my comments when Tiessen Media got approval for 106.1 FM in Airdrie, I don't think Strathmore has the business community needed to support a local radio station.

How long until someone takes a run at 100.3, the "last" frequency available in Calgary?

This application looks to be a rerun of Clear Sky's failed Calgary application from a few yeras ago.

I sure don't see enough advertising dollars in Strathmore to support any kind of a new station.

There's nothing unique about a Country music station in this area.
