From the RadioWest aircheck archives -

A longer version of the launch audio for CKIS FM, Calgary from 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 1996 than what was previously posted. This scoped aircheck, with a shortened version of the "countdown clock," is taken from the station's first 45 minutes on the air.

It was Calgary's first new (commercial) FM station in 14 years not 15 as claimed. CKIK and CKRY had launched in 1982, not to mention CJSW launching its FM service in 1985.

"Calgary's Only New Music" KISS FM 96.9's on air lineup was introduced, as part of its "Commercial Free, Free Sample" with Jerry (Steen), Tim (Kilpatrick) and Karen (Daniels) of the station's morning show which aired from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays. Don Ritchie followed at 9 a.m., and Vince Taylor was heard from 3 to 8 p.m. weekdays. Some months later Jay Oliver would be added to the evening line up.

Not everyone bought the hype, including the competition.

Three years after KISS FM's launch, it became Rock 97 when Rogers purchased the station from Rawlco and Golden West.

The station is currently JACK FM.
