Moving from his hometown of Altona, Manitoba, Bill came to Calgary from Southern Manitoba Broadcasting Co. Ltd. in 1967 joining CHFM Radio as its program director. He was promoted to general manager of CHFM in July 1968 by its owner, Quality F.M. Ltd.

He went on to host the Calgary Eyeopener on 1010 CBR (CBC Radio Calgary) in the early '70s before joining 810 CHQR leaving for CFAC Radio in the early '80s.

Bill was also known for his announcing at the Calgary Stampede starting in 1976, as well as other regional rodeos, and Spruce Meadows starting in 1975.

He suffered from MS, for a decade, and died in June 2003.
