From the RadioWest aircheck archives -

Mid-October 1993, on a Tuesday morning, with the CKLG Morning Zoo in AM Stereo. This iteration of the Zoo included Dean Hill, traffic from Kate Gorman, David Kaye, "Coach" Stu McAllister and Stone Phillips with the news.

As the station transitioned from its long-standing contemporary hit radio format to adult contemporary and eventually NW2 (CJNW) all news radio.

And now, AM 730 All Traffic, All the Time. (Except when sports contests are carried).

I remember this short-lived music/talk hybrid on 730. At least on this aircheck, it bridges the gap between the somewhat gimmicky Morning Zoo shtick of the '80s and more of the conversational/interaction-based shows heard in later years. The rest of the day was a mix of music (CHR? Hot AC?) and interview segments, with two hosts a piece in middays and PM drive. Coming from the memory of a child at the time, some of the DJs, undoubtedly in an attempt to sound edgy, came across as just plain rude. I believe Freeway Frank was a weekend host around this time under the name Frank Kelly. Not sure who CKLG were trying to appeal to but the format didn't last. Either the concept was poorly executed, ahead of it's time, or else a combination of both. By early 1994 they were back to full-time music, and The Morning Zoo became "Dean and Stu in the Morning".
