Wasn't Don at CFRN Edmonton before CHED? I heard he was causing CHED some concern, so they hired him away from 1260.

First Edmonton Journal reference to Don at CFRN is Feb 28 1975. Last is Nov 21 1975.

He did 9-midnight with a "Six Pack" (six current hits in a row) at around 10:15 pm every night.

Funny postscript: while doing the search through the Edmonton Journal, I kept getting matches on an Edmonton Realtor of that era with the name Don Kennedy.

...and just as a postscript, I'd say Donnie had been listening to Bob McCord during his stay in Edmonton... Right Donnie? No shame in that... probably my all time favourite DJ...

Wow! While I listened to Don for many years on CISL (and he had some excellent one-liners), I never heard him quite like this. One station missing from the above bio was JR Country, where Don spent some time around 1993. From about 1995-2000, first at SRN then later at CISL, he was Don Huntly. Then in summer 2000 he was back to Don Kennedy. A radio friend of mine told me at the time that it had to do with restrictions on realtors in training simultaneously working in other professions. Perhaps another poster could share some more insight?

At CKXL in 1973, we were doing that same shift changeover conversation and here it is, still in place six years later.
Happily so; I always thought it played well. It was never scripted, we the jocks enjoyed it, and I think it humanized us to the audience.
Just two neighbors talking over the fence.

Worked with Don in 94 at CJJR. He would follow my overniter. Saturday morning,he would pop in ready to go with a briefcase full of sfx and beds on cart. Old school morning jock fun. Enjoyed working with him.
