CKST St. Albert - Kevin Hilgers - 1988

A radio site without audio is like a TV station with no pictures.

CKST St. Albert - Kevin Hilgers - 1988

From the RadioWest.ca aircheck archives -

Before moving to 1200 AM and finally 104.9 FM, Edmonton area radio listeners could hear a station in neighbouring St. Albert.

The station was launched, at 1070 AM, in 1978 by Dick Mather. https://edmontonbroadcasters.com/collea ... ther-dick/

In 1989, it moved to 1200 AM before moving to its current frequency of 104.9 FM in 1994.

From April of 1988, Kevin Hilgers is hosting the morning show with newscaster James Monsees and Corinne Deshaw provides traffic updates.

Kevin owns a media agency in Grande Prairie, Alberta. James owns a couple of window fashion businesses in St. Albert. Hope I got Coreen's name correct.

Still a faint reminder of those days at CFMG-FM 104.9 MHz. The station is still licensed to St. Albert.

Another reminder of slightly later are the call letters: MG = Magic, the branding for a period of time, but quickly turned into branding for the British sports car. I still remember the billboards for MG-1200 with a huge picture of an MG on them.

Personally, I am reminded of the 1200 transmitter site, which may also have housed 1070, as I now live very close to that site.

Sorry, but some sad news to share. We lost Corinne Deshaw to cancer just four short weeks ago...
