abit late i know, but i totally enjoyed listening to this aircheck. brought back so many memories of channel surfing between LG and Hennessey and CFUN and Jim Hault while I delivered the morning Colonist on the Island as a youth. If anyone has anymore of these classic mid-70s airchecks, please share! (man i miss the days of Top 40 radio, it was BOSS!!!)

Too bad the newscasts were cut, that would have been interesting. Great check nonetheless. Thanks.

He "walked" on one post, but what the Hell, nobody's perfect. Love
the break where he intros "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Nite, and
nails it. Basic stuff, but great stuff too, just takes you back to when there was real top 40 radio in the city, driving around, being a kid, you know
the drill.

He makes it sound so easy. Unfortunately in Big E we didn;t get to hear Roy unless we were in Vancouver. We practiced and practiced to 'catch the fades' he sounds like it was pure natural. We had Charles P Rodney Chandler. I can remember if we caught all the fades during a shift we had others buy the beer. I usually bought after a 4 hour shift. Radio was entertainment not an investment.

I think Roy was a great morning man, and this aircheck is evidence. He was always funny in his own way. He had a great profile in Vancouver, and it was well deserved.

Roy Hennessy had a big influence on me as a teen growing up in the late 60's and was one of the big inspirations on my decision to get into radio and go through the Columbia broadcasting course. Thank you "Real Roy' - to me your one of the best! Listening to this aircheck numerous times confirms that

What a true legend! Anyone know the first 2 songs he plays? They sound quite familiar!

the song that's fading out at the beignning is "My Eyes Adored You" by Frankie Valli .. The one that stumped Roy was "Louisiana" by Mike Kennedy from April of '72 followed by "I'm A Woman" by Maria Muldaur.
